BREAKING NEWS: Maggie Stiefvater Is the Opening Keynote Speaker for ATBF 2013

We couldn’t be more excited to share the news. Earlier this morning the Austin Teen Book Festival made it official – Maggie Stiefvater is the opening keynote speaker for 2013!

They said “We have been big fans for many years, and we are so excited to have her attend and inspire new and faithful fans.”

Our very own Teen Press Corps came up with some awesome questions for Maggie, and here’s what she had to say:

What are your top 3 books of all time?
Dogsbody by Diana Wynne Jones
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
I say that right now, but if you ask me in five minutes, those will have changed. I am a different reader every morning.

If you had to choose one of your characters to be stuck on an island with you, who would you choose and why?
Corr, the tamest of the water horses from The Scorpio Races. Because he swims. And then we would no longer be stuck on an island.

If you attended Aglionby, who would you be friends with?
I’m friends with both a Ronan and an Adam in real life, so I reckon it would be the same if I actually went to Aglionby. Of course, in that scenario, we would all be boys and have great hair.

When you think about Texas, what immediately comes to mind?
The absolute amazing that is Austin. Austinites are my people.”

We are so pumped! Join us Sat, Sept 28, 2013 for a day of FREE YA madness at the Austin Convention Center. There will be author signings, panel discussions, and plenty of other YA fanatics to hang with. As an Official Sponsor and the Exclusive Bookseller of the fest, we will  be sharing all ATBF updates along the way.  Be sure to check the Austin Teen Book Festival site for festival info.
