Review: Far Far Away

Tom McNeal’s Far Far Away tell the story of a boy, a girl, a ghost, and a Finder of Occasions. Written as if it was a fairy tale, Far Far Away follows a similar dark and twisted plot to one of the Brother’ Grimm Tales. Those original tales, before Disney, where Cinderella’s evil step mother and sisters face a gruesome death. In following with that pattern the ghost is Jacob Grimm, charged with protecting Jeremy (the boy) from the Finder of Occasions, a malevolent being who wishes to create death. And we must not forget Ginger, the quite literally spellbound adventuress who joins them on their adventure. I truly enjoyed Far Far Away with its fairy tale feel. It was new, unexpected, and kept me rooted to my chair till It was done. It’s a great addition to anyone’s reading list, and will definitely eat a rainy day.
