Did you hear the big news yesterday? The Austin Teen Book Festival is now the Texas Teen Book Festival! The festival has partnered with the Texas Book Festival and St. Edward’s University. We’re so excited!
Mark your calendar’s: TTBF is happening Saturday, October 18, 2014 at St. Edward’s!
From the TTBF webpage: “This partnership will only grow our festival and reach many more teens and YA fans across the state. Because of this new partnership, we thought it fitting to change our name to the TEXAS TEEN BOOK FESTIVAL (TTBF).”
The Austin Teen Book Festival started in 2009 when librarian Heather Schubert partnered with BookPeople to organize a gathering at her school district library. Five hundred people and 16 authors attended the first year. By 2013 the one-day Festival had grown to host more than 40 authors, four publishers, 17 sessions, and a fervent fan base of 4,000 young adult readers of all ages.
“I couldn’t be more excited that our homegrown Teen Book Festival will now be stewarded by the Texas Book Festival, which will strengthen the Festival for years to come,” says Schubert, Festival Director.
Keep your TTBF ducks in a row:
Can’t wait to see y’all at St. Ed’s! We’ll once again be the official festival Teen Press Corps, covering all the action live over on the festival blog. And of course BookPeople will be there slinging books (and sneaking off to hear our favorite authors discuss all things YA on the panels!)
