Beyond Magenta is a book that explores a topic most people are scared to even consider: transgender people. It is  a book about 7 transgender teens who have broken the silence and decided to speak up about being transgender. Through the tales of their lives, these brave individuals show us a world that is rarely talked about. They speak of the pain, the sadness, and the struggles they went through just to be accepted for who they are. Beyond Magenta gives us a glimpse into the lives of these seven teenagers who have beaten the odds and shown that being different isn’t only okay, it’s beautiful. This book made me think about things in a different light, like the kids who I grew up with who were different from me in many ways and  how much they had to endure just because they were different. It made me realize that people are beautiful and deserve to be treated with respect no matter what. To the seven teenagers who have spoken out, I commend you. You are brave, strong, and beautiful. People in this world should strive to be more like you. To Susan Kuklin, thank you for having the strength and the bravery to write this book. I hope many other teenagers read it and enjoy it as much as I have. Beyond Magenta is a very powerful book. It teaches a lesson all of us need to learn: being yourself is not something to be ashamed of. It is rather something to be proud of.
