What if you lived in an enclosed society with murderers who prowl the streets at night and still bodies crowd the streets? What if it was your job to keep your family of four alive by yourself? And what if the only way for you to survive was to have no mercy, whatsoever?
Sixteen year-old Meadow lives a life of hell. This life, to be precise. The only love she holds dear to her heart is her love for her family and she will do anything to keep them on the surface of the “Shallows”, her home, if you wish to call it that. She spends her days protecting her little sister, training with her father, and looking up to her brother.
But when Zephyr walks in, Meadow’s life grows more bloody than it was before.
Facing death around every corner, Meadow and Zephyr are thrown into a battle where the fittest survive. And when everything she believes comes crashing to an end, things won’t ever be the same again.
Truths are revealed, lies are stretched across the waves, and killers lie behind every corner. And when the only thing you have left is love, well, how can you love someone who is trained to kill you?
Reading this book was an exhilarating experience. The pages fly faster than you realize and they’ll keep flipping until the very end. The Murder Complex is an unforgettable, dark, dystopian thriller that will leave you hanging, wanting more. A powerful read, one of my favorites I’ve read this year by far. You blew my mind, Lindsay Cummings!
