Obsidian is a book about a 17 year old girl, Katy Swartz, who moves to West Virginia with her mother after her father dies. Whilst trying to start over in their new home, Katy meets her new neighbors, Dee and Daemon. They are both ridiculously beautiful. However, while Dee is sweet and nice, her twin brother, Daemon, is arrogant and a jerk. As Katy gets closer to Dee she can’t help but think that there is something different about Dee and Daemon. Her suspicions increase when she sees strange things while with Daemon. Can these two twins really be something other than human?
Obsidian was surprisingly good. I had my hesitations because I’m not a big fan of Sci Fi, but Obsidian totally changed my mind. Spoiler Alert: The aliens in the story are amazing. Totally different and unexpected. Awesome Beings of Light and Dark who just happen to be extraterrestrials! When I think of Aliens I see little green people or insects. But Jennifer took the alien genre and spun it on its head. This book is worth reading just for that. The romance in this book reminds me of the relationship between Bella and Edward in Twilight. The only difference is that I like Daemon and Katy a lot more than I liked Edward and Bella. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any Sci Fi reader. I can’t wait until the latest installment of the series, Opposition, comes out. Definitely a book worth checking out!
