TTBF Panel Freshman Fifteens

This year we have a new panel made up entirely of DEBUT AUTHORS!!! This panel will offer an inside look into each panelist’s journey to publication, putting creative thoughts on paper, the finished product, and the publishing process! This is a must-see panel for all aspiring writers!

Jenn Marie Thorne

Jenn Marie Thorne is the author of the book The Wrong Side Of Right. Kate Quinn’s mom died last year, leaving her parent-less and alone, so when the father Kate never knew existed shows up in her living room, ready to take her away, it’s a bit of a shocker. Not only that, he’s also a powerful politician, and he’s running for President of the United States. Suddenly Kate’s being whisked off, meeting a completely new family, joining a campaign in support of a man she doesn’t know, and she’s being forced to choose between what she’s always known, and a whole new reality.

Chandler Baker

Chandler Baker is the author the new young adult fiction novel, Alive. Alive centers around Stella Cross, a teenage girl in need of a heart, and but she’s been on the transplant list for two years, and she’s out of hope that she’ll ever reach her 18th birthday. Then, out of the blue, she gets a heart from an anonymous donor, and Stella seems to be on a roller coaster that only goes up. But then she starts having side effects. Pain, nightmares, hallucinations. That’s not supposed to happen, right? She meets Levi Zin, the new kid at her Seattle prep school. She feels inexplicably drawn to him, and soon, she can’t stand to be away from him. She becomes convinced that Levi is her soulmate, after all, the heart never lies . . . right? This book is a love story that takes a detour to horror, a haunting and chilling novel that’s definitely worth the read.

Jenny Martin

Jenny Martin is the author of the young adult science fiction novel Tracked, which follows 17 year old Phoebe Van Zant. When she was young, her mother left her and her father, a legendary street racer, alone on the planet Castra. Soon after, her father disappeared, and Phee was taken in by a new family. Now older, Phoebe just can’t shake the adrenaline rush that comes with racing, but with it, she ends up hurtling into trouble. She and her best friend, Bear, are blackmailed my Benroyal Corp, a company that stands for everything Phoebe detests. She risks more trouble, yet again, when she falls for her new teammate Cash, possibly losing Bear in the process. When she discovers that Benroyal is much more than just a corporation, Phee realizes she has a much bigger role in Castra’s future than she ever imagined.

Kim Savage

After the Woods is a psychological thriller written by Kim Savage. The novel follows Julia, a girl who escaped when a kidnapper hunted her in the woods for two terrifying nights. A year later, a dead girl is found in the same woods that Julia escaped from, and all of the horrific memories resurface. But at least she’s not alone, she has her best friend, Liv, the person she knows better than anyone in the world . . . or so she thinks.

Virginia Boecker

Virginia Boecker is the author of the recently published fantasy novel The Witch Hunter. Sixteen year-old Elizabeth lives in Medieval England, where witchcraft is illegal, being a heinous crime which warrants being burned at the stake. It just so happens that Elizabeth is a witch hunter, and a good one at that. She has never questioned the belief that magic is wrong, that it is evil, until she becomes accused of the practice herself, and is sentenced to die. But instead, she is rescued by a notorious wizard Nicholas Perevil, who wants her to fulfill a prophecy to save him, and just like that, she is thrust into the world of magic, and witches and wizards and spells, all the while, holding the secret that she used to hunt the very people who have saved her. She begins to question her loyalties, and must decide where she stands.

Texas Teen Book Festival happens on September 26th, 2015 on the campus of St. Edward’s University. It’s one of our favorite events of the year. We’re proud to be co-founders of this festival and love working on it (and of course being there the day of with all of the books!) Don’t miss it!
