TTBF Panel Lunch Time Conversation

~post by Xander, Teen Press Corps

In the middle of all the festivities we will be taking a break to join the audience for the lunchtime conversation about two of our favorite things — books and movies! The lunchtime book-to-movie conversation will feature the amazing Jesse Andrews, Kaui Hart Hemmings, and Rick Yancey!! Here are a few things you should know about these awesome authors . . .

Jesse Andrews

Jesse Andrews is the author of the incredible book, Me and Earl and The Dying Girl, which has gotten rave reviews all around. This was recently adapted to film, and won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival. I have read the book and seen the movie and they rank at the top with book to movie adaptations. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is Jesse Andrews’ debut novel. DID YOU KNOW? Jesse Andrews wrote the screenplay for the movie adaptation. He is definitely one of the authors I’m excited to see at the fest!

Kaui Hart Hemmings

Kaui Hart Hemmings novel The Descendants was adapted to film in 2011, and received critical acclaim as well as an Academy Award and two Golden Globes. George Clooney, Shailene Woodley, and Matthew Lillard starred in the film adaptation. Hemmings’ latest book, Juniors, is a contemporary novel about fitting in and change. DID YOU KNOW? Kaui Hart Hemmings currently resides in Hawaii, which is where her books are set.

Rick Yancey

Rick Yancey’s alien invasion novel, The 5th Wave, has garnered lots of praise and success and the movie adaptation is set to release in January. The first trailer for the movie has already debuted with Chloë Grace Moretz starring. I have read (and loved) this book and I am so excited to see the movie! DID YOU KNOW? Rick Yancey’s books have been published in over 30 languages.

This is sure to be one interesting lunch conversation!

Texas Teen Book Festival happens on September 26th, 2015 on the campus of St. Edward’s University. It’s one of our favorite events of the year. We’re proud to be co-founders of this festival and love working on it (and of course being there the day of with all of the books!) Don’t miss it!
