In a long anticipated sequel to Trouble is a Friend of Mine, the gang is back and things are getting real. Snappy dialogue? Check. Mysteries to solve? Check. Teenage confusion? Check. A love triangle? Wait. Yep, this book starts out on a surprising note.

With Digby gone, Zoe has been hoping to finish out her junior year without getting into any more illegal hi-jinks. This semester, she’s just another student with normal friends, normal sat stress, and a normal boyfriend. Of course, this is when Digby returns. Soon enough she’s pulled back into the hunt for his sister and all the excitement that comes with it.

Trouble Makes a Comeback is just as quick-witted as it’s predecessor. This may be only Stephanie Tromly’s second book but already her style is apparent. The snark is sharp enough to kill a man and the adventures will drag you in. It’s fresh and interesting. The one surprise here, however, is the emotion. Trouble is a Friend of Mine is wonderful, but it’s not exactly a tearjerker. This sequel brings a subtle tenderness that I wasn’t expecting.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, look out for Trouble Makes a Comeback in November.
