Chapter 1
My Past Becomes My Present

I’m sorry, I don’t know if we’ve met yet. I’m Colleen. I’m 17 years old, but my 11-year-old self was Colleen, daughter of Athena, shipper of Percabeth, and frequent attendee of Camp Half Blood, through the pages of the books of course. (Though I did attend the real thing once which was pretty epic. Highly recommend it once everything opens again.)

As I write this I’m thinking of the sheer bravery this opinion takes to say but for me it must be said. Percy Jackson was superior in my life to Harry Potter. (Please don’t kill me, I come in peace.) From Percy Jackson and the Olympians to The Heroes of Olympus, I lived and breathed Rick Riordan books. I read every spinoff, every dive into different mythologies, and even now I read the Rick Riordan Presents imprint, happily engaging in sassy, young heroes.

After the atrocity (that should be a widely accepted adjective) that describes the PJO movie adaptations, most everyone had accepted that Percy Jackson was destined to stay on the page.

But then.

One Instagram post changed it all.

Chapter 2
An Internet Video Made Me Cry…
And It Wasn’t Of A Puppy.

Caption: “Hey Percy Jackson fans, for the past decade, you’ve worked hard to champion a faithful on-screen adaptation of Percy Jackson’s world. Some of you have even suggested it would be a great series for Disney+. We couldn’t agree more! We can’t say much more at this stage but we are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, starting with The Lightning Thief in season one. Rest assured that Becky & I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show. There will be much more news in the future, but for now, we have a lot of work to do! Buckle up, demigods. It’s going to be a fantastic, exciting ride!”

That’s not just rumor or sold rights to one day possibly maybe become a reality. That is a confirmation that Percy Jackson is finally coming to the screen in an accurate adaptation!!!

I’m sure we’ll continue to get updates via Rick as he cares a lot about fan involvement and opinion. So stay tuned, break out your bright orange camp shirts, and start your reread!!!
