Pacifica

By: Kristen Simmons

Review by: Ivy

A fresh YA dystopian adventure set after global warming has destroyed Earth. The government plans to send 500 citizens to an island ‘paradise’ called Pacifica, but when a young pirate and the son of the president become involved, they uncover more political cover ups and mysteries than… blah blah blah. Basically, two kids break society, and while doing it, fall in love. I loved the terrifying and realistic setting, I thought the characters were unique and sharp, and the writing was unusually and enjoyably detailed. There were pirates, and they lived on a trash island. Pirates. On. A. Trash. Island. I love it. I will say, it became somewhat hard to follow the plot at some points, but I enjoyed Pacifica very, very much.. (And if you don’t think climate change is real, please read this book. It’s packed with scientific fact, proving that the setting of Pacifica an extremely likely future for our planet.) Rating: Four/Five
